Jim Misener
President, Managing Director

One doesn’t necessarily associate poetry with the day-to-day business of a thriving agency, but Jim has found great success being an exception to the rule. Most early mornings you can find him deep in thought about clients’ brand strategies, and by midday he’s making rounds with tasks in hand. Jim received a B.A. with highest honors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and completed the AIGA Program for Creative Leaders at Yale and the Executive Program at the University of Chicago Management Institute.

Equal parts left and right brain, Ken is a true polymath and holds a distinct place in the Chicago design community, having founded 50k in 2001. With a deep understanding of design thinking, Ken has produced numerous campaigns that reside in collective memory not only for artful expression but also for delivering results. As a driving force of the agency’s creative approach, Ken works closely with 50k’s roster of clients to craft design-driven programs. He has a knack for bringing vision to life—from brand identities and successful advertising campaigns to all things now and next. Ken graduated from Northern Illinois with a degree in Fine Arts, and his work has been widely recognized by design publications.

Mike Petersen

Mike is a founding Partner at 50k, with more than 20 years of experience overseeing engagements with some of the world’s most respected brands. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Mike combines his formal education with personal experience as a rider, golfer and active lifestyler to bring a well-rounded perspective to the work he and the team create. With a portfolio that covers everything from identity design and packaging to cross-platform campaigns and digital experiences, Mike has led award-winning projects, delivering results for 50k’s clients. He has developed the agency’s broadcast and motion capabilities while also helping integrate technology across all teams.

Chris Prescher
Principal, Chief Strategy Officer

A creative technologist with more than 25 years of experience overseeing strategy, design and development of integrated and digital communications platforms across industries, Chris leads 50k strategy and acts as engagement lead for clients whose programs span all practice teams. He is a recognized expert in digital payments and is building the agency’s capabilities in product marketing and service design. Chris attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Chicago and has lectured on brand and digital strategy at conferences and institutions, including Northwestern University’s Medill School.
